In 1932, the Dutchmen Michael and Pierre van Melle had the idea for a fresh new chewy candy that had never existed before - the birth of Mentos. The chewy candy has been available in roll form since the 1960s. Many other fruit flavors were added to the peppermint flavor. The brand belongs to the Perfetti van Melle company merger.
