Nutella sweetens the start of the day for people around the world
There's no other way to put it: Nutella is a stroke of genius from Ferrero - though not the only one. The idea for a sweet cream made from hazelnuts and chocolate is said to have originated in Piedmont during Napoleon's time. What was new, however, was that it wasn't used as a cake filling, but simply spread on bread. Nutella is a portmanteau of the English word "nut" and the Italian diminutive "ella."
