M&M's sugar glaze is supposed to defy the hot summers
Heat and chocolate don't match, so a heat wave in the USA sparked the development of coated chocolate candies. Forrest Mars introduced M&M's to the US market in 1941. They have been available in Europe since 1975, also in a more spherical version with a whole peanut in the center. Due to the similarity, however, Mars Inc. lost interest in their sister product, Treets, which are now again produced by the German Company Katjes.
